                   Student Activties

Hi Class, Listed below are what you need to do for your activities. Remember to have fun because learning is fun! Reminder: Please   check the rubric before you get started.

First Activity: In the first activity you will be divided into five groups. Each group will be assigned two areas of the Cherokee people. You will become an expert in your two areas. Using the websites you should find as much information as you can about your areas. You will then teach the class about your areas. For your presentation you need to have two visual aides that go along with the information you provided to the class. You will also need to tell the class the most interesting facts you learned.

Second Activity: With your same group go to this website: http://www.cherokee.org/culture/Literaturepage.asp?ID=18

Read about the legend of the corn bead. In your groups come up with your own legend about why something is the way it is.  Teacher’s Example: Why is there dew on the ground each morning? Legend of the Dew- There is dew on the ground each morning because the Creator is sad because children will not obey their parents, so he cries.

The dew was supposed to be a reminder to all children that they needed to obey their parents.  After you come up with your legend you need to draw a picture of it and you will later present it to the class.
