POLICIES:
Attendance-Attendance will be taken daily and all absences should be explained in writing.  Three consecutive absences without explanation will result in your being dropped from the roll.  More than three absences for any reason may result in a significantly lower grade.
    Grades-    A. Two mid-term hourly exams------------40%
                    B.  Weekly translation quizzes--------------25%
                    C.  Translation-----------------------------10%
                    D.  Final Exam-----------------------------25%

Translation-you will be expected to volunteer to translate on a weekly basis and a record will be kept of the number of lines completed.  A perfect translation is not required but you should have learned the necessary vocabulary and tried to work out the meaning of the lines which you attempt.  Do not bring written translations to class.  This practice inhibits the efficient acquisition of vocabulary.

Homework-Expect to spend one to two hours per class on your translation preparation.  Do not think you can slack off for a week or two and then catch up.  If your family or work schedule do not permit you to spend the necessary time on Vergil, then perhaps you should prepare yourself for a disappointing grade.

Please Note: You must pass the final exam (60 points minimum) in order to pass this class.
