A Short History...

I was born in India, in the state of Kerala. I got my Masters in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (click here for information about Mumbai, the City Formerly Known as Bombay). I came to the US in 1979, and did my Ph.D. in Biophysics from Syracuse University on the Systems Analysis of the Light Growth Response of Phycomyces blakesleeanus. After a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Physiology Department of the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse where I studied the mechanism of potential sensitive dyes in the red blood cell membrane, I became a Research Assistant Professor in the Pharmacology Department at SUNY-HSC. I joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNCG as an Assistant Professor in 1994.

I am married and have two kids: Anirudh and Abhishek (the Macintoshes of my eye! -- click on their names for pics).
