Transfer Credit:
The Friday Center for Continuing Education
at UNC Chapel Hill
The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education hosts online classes from UNC Chapel Hill and self-paced courses from several campuses around the UNC system. Online and self-paced courses are listed in separate catalogs, and tuitions are generally higher than UNCG tuition for in-state students. You may apply an unlimited number of these credits toward your 122-credit minimum at UNCG, provided you meet all other minimum-residency requirements at UNCG.

Registration & Financial Aid
To register for an online or self-paced class, contact the Friday Center directly, let them know you are a degree-seeking student at UNCG, and register as a visiting student. Be sure to have an official transcript sent to UNCG once you have completed each class, and check your degree evaluation to confirm that each class has met the intended requirement at UNCG.
All financial aid arrangements must be made through the school at which you are a degree-seeking student (UNCG). To be safe, if you are taking financial aid, let both schools know that you are a degree-seeking student at UNCG, and that you are taking classes toward that degree as a visiting student at the Friday Center.
Online Courses –vs– Self-Paced Courses
Carolina Courses Online:
- Web-based; access the course website, participate in online discussions and turn in assignments electronically (similar to UNCG online courses).
- Follow UNC Chapel Hill semester schedule.
Self-Paced Courses:
- Correspondence-based; you will receive a printed course manual and mail in your assignments for grading.
- Work at your pace, from 12 weeks to 9 months.
