College Policies on Research Assignments & Fellowship Support
The College of Arts & Sciences has two policies on research assignments for faculty that complement the University’s annual competitive Research Assignment Program for tenured faculty. (Applications for the latter program are solicited annually by announcement from the Provost’s Office; details may be found here.)
1. The College Policy on Research Assignments for Tenure-Track Assistant Professors entitles all tenure-track assistant professors to a one-semester research assignment at full pay after approval of their reappointment to a second probationary term. Details of the policy may be found here.
2. The College Policy on Support for Fellowship Recipients entitles any tenured or tenure-track faculty member who applies for an external fellowship to request supplemental salary and other support from the College for the period of the fellowship award. The request must be made at the time the fellowship application is submitted. Details of the policy may be found here.
Questions about these policies should be directed to the Associate Dean for Research or your Department Head/Program Director.
(Note: An earlier policy on Off-Campus Assignments for Probationary Faculty was superseded by the two policies identified above and has been removed from the web site.)
