Dr. Hawks is a paleoanthropologist whose research focuses on human genetic evolution. He is well known within the field of biological anthropology for his public engagement with current topics of research, including his own blog (http://johnhawks.net/weblog), contributions to and citations in mainstream media (NPR, slate.com, NY Times), and appearances as a blogginghead on "Science Saturday" (blogginghead.tv). The Chronicle of Higher Education profiled him in 2008 as a "technosavvy" professor.
