CASSC By-Laws
Name
- The name of this organization shall be called the COLLEGE
OF ARTS & SCIENCES
STAFF COUNCIL (CASSC).
Membership
- The term of office for each committee member shall be two years.
Based on the seven member committee, four new members shall be appointed
in one year and the remaining three new members shall be appointed the
following year. Therefore, the committee will consist of a split portion
of new and returning members. No departmental representatives shall serve
two consecutive terms. Elections are held in April.
The Officers
- The Officers of the College of Arts and Sciences Staff Council
are the President and Secretary. At the first meeting of the new fiscal
year officers will be elected, unless an officer resigns during mid-term,
in which case they will be replaced at the next meeting. The outgoing
President will serve as ex-officio officer.
Duties of the Officers
- The President of the College of Arts and Sciences Staff Council
will preside and officiate at all Council meetings, present agendas,
and act as spokesperson for the Council.
The secretary shall keep an
accurate record of all proceedings of the College of Arts and Sciences
Staff Council, conduct correspondence with
the approval of the President, maintain a record of attendance, and perform
other duties as assigned.
Meetings
- The College of Arts and Sciences Staff Council will meet every fourth
Thursday of the month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The council members will
decide the location of the meeting. Additional meetings may be held
as needed
and as called by the Council President. The Council will meet with
the Dean at the beginning of the Fall semester (September) and the
end of
the Spring semester (April).
Members of the College of Arts and Sciences
Staff Council are expected to attend all meetings. Any Council member
who cannot attend a meeting
should notify the Secretary three days in advance of meeting.
Quorum
- A majority of College of Arts and Sciences College Staff representatives
shall constitute a quorum to conduct official business at any regular
meeting or special meeting of the Council.

Amendments
- Any amendments to the bylaws shall be proposed to the College
of Arts and Sciences Staff Council, in writing, at least one week before
the meeting during which it is to be presented for a vote.
Non-discrimination
- The College of Arts and Sciences Staff Council will not discriminate
on the basis of race, sex, age, color, religion, disability, or national
origin.
