Get involved with our new AFS ambassadors program!

AFS Ambassadors are students who represent the UNCG African American Studies Program at public events and conferences both on and off campus. They also help the program to meet student needs and interests by planning events, networking with students, and providing suggestions and feedback to AFS staff and instructors. Students who participate will have the opportunity to build relationships with alumni and community supporters, build leadership skills, practice professionalism, and increase their communication abilities. Interested students should apply to participate and will be selected based on commitment, leadership abilities, potential for growth, and desire to learn.

In order to apply, students must have declared an AFS major and have taken at least one AFS course.

If you are interested, please submit the following to afs@uncg.edu.

1.) A 200 word statement telling why you have chosen AFS as a major and why you should be chosen as an ambassador.
2.) A letter of reference from an African American Studies professor who can speak to your leadership skills and/or potential
