Professor Emeritus Alan Cook retired in 2007 after sixteen years teaching at UNCG. His academic background includes teaching at the University of Montana and the University of California (Santa Cruz). On a Fulbright lectureship he taught and directed African plays at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, 1975-77, and the University of Jos, Nigeria, 1982-84. He has worked professionally as an actor and director at the Long Wharf theatre in New Haven, the Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Western Stage in Salinas, CA, the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, the Madison (WI) Repertory and the Montana Repertory Theatre. More recently he directed a production of Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman at UNCG in 2006.
