Spartan Legislative Network Agenda
I. Local Budget Management Flexibility
- Each university in the North Carolina system is best equipped to make informed, responsible decisions on how to serve their students and communities. Encourage the General Assembly to allow the university’s flexibility while appropriating reductions to funding.
- By aligning with the values of the university to make higher education affordable to the taxpayers of North Carolina and underprivileged prospective students we encourage the General Assembly to value and support increases to the funding of financial aid.
- Request the General Assembly to practically fund the capital needs requirements of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
- Request appropriations in the amount of $13M for the planning of the replacement of the McIver building.
- The replacement of the McIver building would increase capacity for the nursing program which is under significant pressure to expand to meet the ever growing demand of healthcare in our state.
- Educate the Board of Commissioners and City Councils as to the role the university plays in the economic well being of their respective communities.
- Encourage local municipal boards to incorporate UNCG into their legislative agendas.
