Lesson Plans and Teaching

You will write one lesson plan that focuses on one of the following:  Art History, Art Media (studio) or Art Corelation (Art and Math or Art and Science, or Art and Writing, etc.)  Follow the lesson plan guide in writing your plan. Due the first notebook check.

You will write one lesson plan that includes technology as part of the process for the students.  This can be student research or it can be student creative work.  (Check out the individual media explorations and your text books for idea prompts and connections  Hint, put a copy in your Advanced Technology Portfolio).  Follow the lesson plan guide in writing your plan.   Due the final notebook check.

credit iconLesson Plan to Write, Teach, and Assess the Outcomes
You will draw one topic in class and then plan to teach this lesson to the class who will be "Your Students."   Follow the lesson plan guide in writing your plan.   Date will be assigned  Due on the day you teach it.
  • Be sure the room is arranged to enhance your teaching.  Have any visuals (posters, prints, handouts, information on the chalk board or samples ) prepared for the class.  List any key  terms, vocabulary, etc. on the board. If you need to move the class to another location for this presentation, it is your responsibility to arrange for the other space.  [[e.g. ceramics lab, print  lab, computer lab]] 
  • Do the project or assignment of your lesson yourself before you teach at least once.  If needed, have several stages of the project done for demonstration. 
  •  Practice your lesson before you teach it in class. Read on effective speaking and find two suggestions to try as a part of your presentation.  (You may want to video the lesson and review it later) 
  • On the day of your presentation, dress the part!   (No jeans please) 
  • Classmates may assist in the set-up, closed down for the presentation or may help in arranging the teaching space, equipment, or distribution of supplies. The project or assignment should be completed in class. You will have about 45 minutes for presentation and student work time, with a discussion of the lesson afterwards. 
  • Present the instructor with a copy of this lesson when you deliver the presentation. Include any handouts that you make for the class and your assessment form that you will use to note achievements and suggestions for your students. After the lesson session is complete, the class will discuss the instructional strategies, the age appropriateness, and give suggestions and comments.
  • You are to collect the work at the end of the teaching session. assess it;  returning the work and the assessment to your classmates the next class session. Turn in a copy of your assessment to the instructor.
You may discuss the lesson idea and instructional strategies with your instructor when you begin planning..  You may also use any of the supplies that the department provides for your lesson.  Unusual items that are not included with the departmental basic supplies you will have to arrange to provide. Due the final notebook check.
