Course Description 

Art 365 Curriculum and Teaching Methods in the Secondary School (3:2:2).   Admission to Teacher Education, ART 360.

Aims, philosophy and curricula of art education in the secondary school; selection, preparation and use of teaching materials. (Counts as Art credit.)

Meeting dates/times: Fall 2006  Course calendar
Class meets on Monday abd Wednesday, 6:00-7:50 p. m., in Rm. 225 Gatewood
Regular attendance is expected.  Option  for special licensure students

Learning Outcomes/Goals

1. Students will  understand, develop, and demonstrate a knowledge of the theory and practice of Art Education for Secondary level students.
2. Students will understand and practice appropriate curriculum and teaching methods for studio and for art history, criticism, and aesthetics.
3. Students  understand and develop appropriate professional dispositions, art content, and art knowledge for successful teaching.
4. Students will  understand and discuss the philosophical and historical foundations of Art Education.
5. Students understand, develop, and demonstrate skill in the use of computer for curriculum development, instruction, as an art media, and for classroom management.
