Falk Visiting Artists
The Art Department strongly believes that our students need to be knowledgeable about art issues and contexts outside academia. In 1982, the Department of Art began the Falk Visiting Artist Program with a generous endowment from Herbert and Louise Falk. With their support, the department has invited over eighty internationally and nationally known painters, sculptors, performance artists, photographers, video and intermedia artists to campus. Each Falk artist mounts an exhibition of their work, delivers gallery and artist's talks, and engages in individual studio visits with each MFA student in the program.
The MFA program is enriched by an endowed series of Falk Visiting Artists, who are on campus from three days to a week. Their residencies include direct contact and individual studio visits with graduate students. Recent Falk Visiting Artists include Michael Ashkin, John Rubin, Anne Gale, Janine Antoni, Helen O'Leary, Julie Heffernan, Denzil Hurley, Anne Chu, Pepon Osorio, Judy Pfaff, Amy Cutler, Victor Ekpuk Tom Burckhardt, Richard Mosse, Cathering Murphy and Liz Miller. During the 2013-2014 academic year, Annie Lapin, Jiha Moon and Mike Andrews will be visiting UNCG as Falk Visiting Artists.
