The Dean's speech at Award Ceremony presentation, April 25, 2008: Today, I am pleased to present the 2008 Bryan School Staff Excellence Award.
As you may know, the Bryan School Diversity Commission recommended the establishment of this award to recognize a current Bryan School administrative EPA or SPA employee who:
This year, the selection committee received nominations for seven candidates, all of whom exemplify the award’s criteria. Nominations included recommendations from Bryan School faculty, staff, and students, as well as letters of support and recognition from members of the community.
Commendations for this year’s recipient include:
He has frequently represented the Bryan School on a variety of technology work groups and task forces where he “presents our point-of-view with vigor, while still being well received by the others.” In addition, he is “generally included in various Ad Hoc committees set up by the University’s IT Services to address campus-wide … issues because of his credibility and proactive approach.” “He is often at the forefront in the University in identifying problems and notifying others”, and “quickly offers solid suggestions where he sees an opportunity for improvement.”
As a result of his efforts, he is regarded as “a key person within the University in keeping all IT technicians up-to-date”. And, the Bryan School’s IT staff “is viewed on campus as being able to provide a higher level of service than is available elsewhere.”
As one nomination concluded, he is “an incredibly dedicated employee with a great work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude.”
Please join me in congratulating Douglas Taylor, the recipient of the 2008 Bryan School Staff Excellence Award.
