Welcome to the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG. Our mission is to accomplish the following five outcomes:

Dr. William Brown
  • To provide high quality programs of education for accounting and finance majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • To provide high quality courses to support the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Bryan School as well as UNCG;
  • To stimulate and support high quality research, scholarship, and publication;
  • To provide service to the Bryan School, to UNCG, to the international academic community, and to the accounting and finance professional communities.
  • to foster faculty interaction with the public in ways which enhance the common good.

Our graduates have meaningful and productive careers in business and industry, government, education, and in nonprofit organizations. Most take positions in areas like auditing, business advisory services, financial planning and analysis, banking, tax, and management. A few of the many employers of our students are Bank of America, BDO Seidman, LLP; Davenport, Marvin Joyce & Co., LLP; Dixon Hughes & Company, LLP; Ernst & Young, LLP; Grant Thornton; KPMG, LLP; Leeper, Kean & Rumley; McGladrey & Pullen, LLP; Porter & Company, P.C.; PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Robert Half & Associates; Wachovia; Wrangler, and VF Corporation.

The Bryan School of Business and Economics is accredited by the AACSB, the premier accrediting agency for business programs worldwide. In addition, we are one of only 168 programs worldwide to have separate accounting accreditation from the AACSB. Accounting is the only discipline within business for which separate accreditation is given; as such, our finance programs, like all other business programs, are not separately accredited. We work very hard to maintain the quality and continuous improvement expected from programs which have achieved AACSB accreditation.

We welcome you to our department. If you are considering us for your studies; or, if you are a potential employer of our graduates, we would welcome the opportunity to assist you.
