Bryan School alumni know firsthand the resources necessary to successfully complete a degree – and they’re prepared to help.
The Bryan School Alumni Association has established a scholarship fund to help emerging leaders with the cost of college. Association president Jeff Walters ’04 said the scholarship is a way for alumni to support the school and current students.
“We really just couldn’t believe that it hadn’t been done already,” Walters said. “This scholarship is an opportunity for alumni to give back to the Bryan School and to UNCG and make a difference for future business leaders.”
The award, which will be based primarily on academic merit and leadership abilities, is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the Bryan School. The first scholarship will be given this fall.
In addition to tuition support, the award may also be used as a grant to allow a student to participate in an activity that develops leadership potential.
The association aims to have the scholarship fully endowed by December 2011.
Bryan School alumni and friends are encouraged to support the scholarship fund by contributing as an inaugural donor, donating time to Bryan Alumni Association events that will raise money for the fund or spreading the word to fellow alumni and contacts. Proceeds from the Association’s annual golf tournament, scheduled this year for September 19, are earmarked for the scholarship fund.
