CURRENT STUDENTS | Undergraduate Program - Domestic Study Trips

Domestic study trips to retailing and apparel design and production centers are offered annually through the CARS Department. Since New York City (NYC) is the fashion capital of the United States, study trips are offered to NYC at least once every other year. Study trips are also made to locales such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas and Chicago. In addition, faculty lead study trips to trade shows and sourcing fairs such as the MAGIC show, held in Las Vegas. These opportunities allow students to observe many aspects of the apparel, retailing, and related industries of which they study, but are not available locally.

Visits are made to design centers, fiber, fabrics and apparel manufacturers, retailing establishments, factory showrooms, sourcing companies, forecasting agencies, and industry organizations. Activities may also include guest speakers, cultural performances, museums, and runway shows.

Short term domestic study trips offer students opportunities to:

  • become immersed in industry activities and practices
  • enhance understanding of concepts and principles through industry immersion
  • observe business processes
  • interact with professional in the field
  • develop networks and industry contacts for internship experiences
