(December 2009)

The Dixon Hughes Triad Business Index is produced by Dr. Donald Jud, professor emeritus at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and research fellow in the Center for Business and Economic Research, in partnership with the index sponsor, Dixon Hughes PLLC. The DHTBI provides the most up-to-date snapshot of the economy of the Triad region of North Carolina.¹

The Dixon Hughes Triad Business Index incorporates county-level data on such indicators as employment, retail sales, and real estate. The result is a single number, an index, that summarizes the level of economic activity throughout the region.

In this report, all data are statistically adjusted to eliminate statistical aberrations unrelated to trend and cycle. Monetary figures are deflated by the CPI-U to reflect inflation-adjusted 2010 dollars.

¹The Triad is defined as an eight-county area that is composed of Alamance, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, and Yadkin.
