This course can only be taken in conjunction with the Disney Theme Parks and Resorts College Program and requires a 2.0 GPA or higher. It requires completion of Learning Activities, including Disney Traditions in conjunction with worksite experience. It also requires completion of one of the following Disney Educational Experiences: Corporate Communications, Experiential Learning, Advanced Studies in Hospitality, Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, Creativity and Innovation or Marketing You. Introduction

The purpose of BUS 110: Exploring Business Basics is to acquire skills and knowledge in regard to values, needs, and wants as well as customer service, self-management, problem-solving and career planning.  The combination of worksite experience and class assignments explores and promotes the following:

  1. the identification of transferable skills,
  2. the development of a personal brand to advance future career marketability,
  3. the planning a networking strategy,
  4. the formulating a plan to increase personal and professional productivity, and
  5. the analysis of customer problems and propose solutions.

Course Participation

In order to take this course you must be a participant in the Disney Theme Parks and Resorts College Program. To be selected for participation in this program you need to attend a presentation on a college campus and interview with the Disney recruiter. Onsite Faculty Visits

During the semester, your instructors (and other Bryan School faculty) may periodically come to meet in groups as well as individually with students to review academic progress, work with the Disney Education Team, and discuss worksite performance.

Grading/Evaluation

BUS 110: "Exploring Business Basics" requires: (1) completion of learning activities and (2) completion of one Disney Collegiate Educational Experience: Corporate Communications, Experiential Learning, Advanced Studies in Hospitality, Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, Creativity and Innovation or Marketing You.

Certain guidelines are provided to ensure that each student receives maximum benefit from this experience, and these guidelines are to be viewed as minimum requirements in order to qualify for successful completion of the course.  UNCG Official Undergraduate Grading System

Course Policies:

  1. All course requirements must be completed and sent via email to Dr. Miles by the due date.
  2. You must notify your instructor in the event of your dismissal from the Disney College Program. Failure to notify your instructor may result in a grade of "WF". For International Students: You must also immediately notify the International Program Center at UNCG so they can assist you with visa issues.
