$1 Million BB&T Gift Promotes Study of the Philosophy of Free Market Economies

Students from diverse disciplines will gain a better understanding of the foundations of the U.S. economic system thanks to a $1 million gift from the BB&T Charitable Foundation to the Bryan School.

The gift establishes the BB&T Program in Capitalism, Markets and Morality. The program will offer undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to examine the ethical and philosophical basis for free market economies. Read more about BB&T's Gift.

UNCG Winter Graduates Treated To Pizza With All the Trimmings

Dr. Vidyaranya B. Gargeya, professor of Information Systems and Operations Management and director of the MBA program, was honored as the featured speaker at UNCG’s winter commencement held on Dec. 14 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Gargeya, recipient of the Alumni Teaching Excellence Award, served up a commencement speech that featured references to “mouth-watering pizza” for the more than 1,400 students who were awarded diplomas during the exercises. Read more about the UNCG winter Graduates.

ISOM PhD Student Brings IT Accessibility to Disabled Students

Rakesh Babu is used to looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. That’s because Babu, a PhD student in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, a disease that causes progressive loss of vision that can lead to total blindness.
