N.C. Center for Entrepreneurship Holds Open House Nov. 11

The N.C. Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro will open its doors to the community Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a panel discussion showcasing the power and potential of entrepreneurship.

The 6 p.m. discussion, which is free and open to the public, will feature three visionary entrepreneurs: Eunice Dudley, the co-founder and chief financial officer of Dudley Products, a hair care and cosmetics company; Greg Provenzano, the co-founder and president of ACN, Inc., the world’s largest direct selling telecommunications service provider; and JR Ridinger, the founder, president and CEO of Market America, an internet marketing and product brokerage company.

The panel discussion will be held in the Bryan Building, Room 160, followed by the center’s open house and reception from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Bryan Building, Rooms 416 and 418. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Dianne H. B. Welsh, director of the N.C. Center for Entrepreneurship and the Charles A. Hayes Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Bryan School of Business and Economics.

The panelists’ success stories are inspirational to budding or established business owners. "The panelists are visionary founders and entrepreneurs of the most successful direct selling companies in the state of North Carolina,” Welsh said. “Through entrepreneurship, they have expanded their businesses globally using direct selling and, in doing so, have provided an economic boon to the state in terms of both job growth and revenue."

Established by the UNCG Board of Trustees in the spring, the center is equipped to help business owners fulfill their own entrepreneurial goals in seven targeted areas: creative industries, family business, franchising, health care entrepreneurship, international entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and technology entrepreneurship. Among the services offered, the center’s personnel will consult with emerging and established entrepreneurs to work on business plans, strategic thinking, marketing and accounting. The center also offers entrepreneurial mentoring and works with student entrepreneur groups.
