Message from the Director

On behalf of the Bryan School and the faculty of Information Systems and Operations Management Department, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our program. Our program will provide you with a unique blend of managerial, technological and communications skills essential for success in the exciting field of Information Technology.

Today’s job market is very competitive, and it is challenging for aspiring young professionals in all fields to discover that special career path. You need an advantage – something to set you apart. The Masters of Science in Information Technology and Management (MSITM) program at UNCG gives you such an advantage by preparing you to manage information technology and information systems needs. The program combines new technologies and information systems to develop graduates who effectively confront the many complex issues of applying information technology successfully within organizations. In addition, emphasis is placed on problem-solving activities, multi-functional group decision making, and communication skills. The MSITM program seeks to extend both the knowledge of students and their ability to effectively utilize their knowledge in a collaborative work environment. The MSITM program trains business leaders who are successful project managers familiar with modern programming, application development, database, and data mining abilities.

Our mission here is to assist and prepare you to meet the challenges that lay ahead as you embark on this new chapter of your life. I realize that for many of you the decision to pursue your graduate studies did not come easy. Let me assure you that all of us understand this and are eager to make your graduate studies experience a wonderful and exciting one.

The ISOM department and MSITM program will work with your schedule to make it easy for you to earn a degree while working. The typical part-time student completes their Masters’ degree in two to three years. A student can complete their degree by only taking night classes that meet once per week. A full time student can complete the program in just one to two years.

We are interested in your success. We help our students build resumes through career counseling, team building, experimental classes, internships, and our connections to local business leaders. Our faculty is associated with many IT trade groups and professional organizations and we constantly update our internship database. We enable you to maximize your success and we are committed to your success.

“How can a Bryan School degree in Information Technology and Management help me in my field?” The 21st century has a fast-paced global economy. Professionals in all fields – business, health care, arts management, and other non-profits – need innovative business skills such as planning, organizing, forecasting, negotiating, and most important – leadership ability. The Bryan School will prepare you to lead teams, departments, divisions, and entire organizations.

The Bryan School at UNCG is accredited by AACSB International, which assures prospective students and employers that the quality of our program meets the most rigorous standards for profession schools of business.

I invite you to contact us either by telephone at (336) 334-4993 or by e-mail at hamid_nemati@uncg.edu to discuss how the graduate program in Information Technology and Management can improve your future. I welcome your questions, comments and feedback and encourage you to get to know your student colleagues, ISOM faculty and the dedicated staff of the Bryan Graduate Programs Office.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hamid Nemati
