When can a person start the program?
TopThe Program is planned so that each fall a group of students will begin the required core level sequence. Students who need to take foundation level classes may begin the program at any time but cannot begin the core course sequence except in the fall semester and after all computing competencies and foundation course requirements are satisfied.
How long will it take to complete the program?
TopBy taking 6 credit hours per semester, part-time students can complete the required 24 hour core sequence in four semesters. Courses that qualify as approved electives may be taken during regular semester or summer terms, thus enabling a part-time student to complete the entire program in 2 calendar years once the core level classes are begun. Core level required courses will not be taught during the summer session.
Is the program open to full-time students?
TopAlthough the program is designed to accommodate part-time students, the program also serves full-time students. Some graduate assistantships and fellowships are available to support full-time students. Tuition waivers are generally not available. Persons who are interested in enrolling in the program on a full-time basis are advised to consult with the Program Director prior to applying.
When will classes be held and how long are the classes?
TopAll MSITM classes will be held at night and will meet one night a week. Each core level course will be taught once each year. Thus, students who wish to complete the program in a timely manner will need enroll in courses the particular semester they are offered. Foundation level courses will be offered on a more frequent basis but will also be taught at night and will meet one night per week. Classes receiving 1.5 semester hours of credit are taught in eight week blocks and each semester will contain two 8 week blocks. Classes receiving 3 semester hours of credit are taught over an entire semester. Foundation level and elective classes will generally be available during the summer sessions but core level classes will not be offered during the summer sessions.
What is the capacity of the program?
TopDue to capacity constraints, a limit of 35 students may begin the core course sequence each fall. Students may enter the program in the fall, spring, or summer terms. It may be necessary to deny immediate admission to some persons who might otherwise meet admission standards because of capacity limits. Such persons will be encouraged to apply for admission at a future time.
When will admissions decisions be made?
TopThe MSITM Admission Committee will make an admission decision as soon as possible after an application is complete so that admitted students who need to take foundation level courses may begin to take those classes at their earliest opportunity. Students who have questions about a pending application may contact the MSITM Program Director.
Do I have to resubmit all materials if I was previously admitted to a UNCG Graduate Program?
TopGenerally, students who were admitted to a UNCG graduate program in the recent past or who earned a graduate degree at UNCG may only need to submit an application and any additional materials that were not required for the previous program. Applicants should submit new test scores, updated transcripts, and/or letters of recommendation if the previous application is unavailable or outdated. Questions regarding old applications should be addressed to the MSITM Program Director.
Can courses taken in the UNCG MBA program satisfy MSITM program requirements?
TopThe thirty hours of core level course work may not include any course used to satisfy the requirements of a previously awarded degree. Specific credit for courses taken in other graduate programs will be considered on a case by case basis.
Do I have to wait until I receive my GMAT score to apply?
TopNo. You should submit your application and other materials as soon as possible so that your application can be considered at the earliest possible time. However, an admission decision will not be made until all application materials have been received.
Will MSITM students be expected to have personal computers?
TopThe ISOM Department requires that MSITM students have appropriate notebook computers except in cases of financial hardship. Please refer to the Laptop Requirement (PDF) for additional information concerning specific requirements. Any additional questions can be answered by the MISTM program director.
