Information Systems and Operations Management
Technology & Integrated Systems Educational Council
The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management at UNCG has sponsored an educational group named TISEC for almost twenty years. TISEC began as the Triad Information Systems and Executives Council, and has evolved to become the Technology & Integrated Systems Educational Council. Both organizations were formed to meet needs expressed by local businesses as they explored technology trends, products, and services. The emphasis of this "new" TISEC is on Innovative Processes and Integrated Systems; we believe this emphasis will be vital to Triad companies as they strive for excellence.
The initial and continuing purposes of TISEC are to:
- Provide an opportunity for area business professionals to participate in a series of cutting-edge seminars dealing with the application of new technologies to operations and supply chains.
- Provide an opportunity to share experiences and learn from colleagues.
- Provide a strong linkage between employers of UNCG's business and technology graduates and faculty who teach students in our curricula. Many of our students complete internships in area firms and most take jobs with area companies.
The 2006 program year will consist of the following seminars:
- March 6, 2006: Combining Forecasting and Lean Thinking: Learn Lessons from Sara Lee Branded Apparel’s Process to Implement these Concepts within their Supply Chain
- October 10, 2006: A Flat World: Economic Realities and Impacts on Supply Chain and Information Technology - Going
from a Best-seller to the Real World.
- Required Reading: The World is Spiky.
The 2005 program year consisted of the following seminars:
- March 6, 2005 — Delivering Measured Web Successes (PPT)
- July 26, 2005 - Online Security (PDF)
- October 11, 2005 — Supply Chain Inventory Strategies (PDF)
