Located in the heart of the Piedmont Triad and bordered by the cities of High Point to the south and Winston Salem to the west, Greensboro sits at the intersection of two major highways (I-85 and I-40). Attractions in Greensboro include many historical, cultural, and entertainment destinations and our mild climate and unique geography make Greensboro a wonderful place to live, work, and learn. With the beautiful Appalachian Mountains one hour to our west, and the stunning Atlantic beaches a two hour drive east, there is no shortage of fun and interesting activities for students at UNC Greensboro.

Guilford Courthouse National Park is the site of an important battle in the War for Independence.

The International Civil Rights Center and Museum marks the birth of the "Sit In" movement, one of the most important moments of the 1960's civil rights struggle.

The Piedmont Environmental Center is a local organization with a focus on environmental understanding and sustainable living. It features several excellent walking trails that encircle Oak Hollow Lake.

The North Carolina Zoo, located less than 30 minutes from our campus, is the largest "walk-through" natural-habitat zoo in the world, the first in the United States, and one of only two state-owned zoos in the United States.
