Daytime MBA Students Report to Boot Camp
MBA Bootcamp 2006

The Bryan School welcomed twenty-five new students to the day MBA program as Boot Camp kicked off at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 8. Boot Camp is an intensive four-day orientation designed to prepare the entering students for their graduate studies as MBA students at UNCG. In addition to in-depth training on business research, case analysis, statistics, and several career development workshops, Boot Camp provides the setting for students to meet their professors and administrators and to become acquainted with one another. As a lock-step program, this cohort of students will spend the next two years working together toward their MBAs.

Providing students with an international education is an important objective of the MBA program and toward that end, this entering class included students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guatemala, Sweden, Taiwan, and Thailand. The entering class also included out-of-state students from Georgia, Illinois, South Carolina, and Texas. While Boot Camp is more mental than physical, the week-long orientation concludes with team building exercises at Piney Lake Park and for new students, this series of physical challenges is usually the most exhilarating and memorable part of Boot Camp.

“Most of the students entering the day program are coming directly from undergraduate or have completed their bachelor’s within the past couple years. The goal of Boot Camp is to help them prepare for making the leap from undergraduate studies to a graduate professional program in business.  The MBA is a rigorous curriculum and we want to make sure everyone entering the program is ready to hit the ground running next Monday when classes start,” says Catherine Holderness, Administrative Director of the MBA Program.
