Sadaf Sarwari: Starts New Job with Law Firm in DC

In March, Sadaf Sarwari joined Paul Shearman Allen & Associates, a boutique immigration law firm in Washington, DC. As the firm’s new public relations specialist, she has kept herself in a creative frenzy the past couple of months as she prepares the launch of a redesigned web site and a new line of publications. Prior to moving to the nation’s capital, Sadaf was the public relations specialist at The MacKenzie Law Firm in Winston-Salem, a job she started immediately after completing her Bryan MBA in 2005.

Sadaf has found a good niche for herself in the legal community. Immigration attorneys typically do not come from business backgrounds, placing a premium on her experience in areas such as marketing, management, and human resources. She also brings multi-language skills that make her extremely valuable in dealing with an immigration firm’s international clientele. Sadaf is fluent in French, Farsi, English, and German. She also speaks basic Spanish and plans to begin studying Arabic once she gets herself settled into her new life in DC.

Sadaf’s personal background also lends itself well to work in immigration law. When she was one year old, Sadaf and her family immigrated to France to flee the Soviet war in Afghanistan. She lived in France for twenty years before coming to UNCG on an exchange program as an undergraduate student. Shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree in international business in 2002, Sadaf entered the Bryan MBA program.

While in the Bryan MBA program, Sadaf completed a marketing internship with Volvo Trucks North America, was a graduate assistant for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and conducted market research for the Bryan School’s Center of Global Business Education and Research.

“I highly recommend the Bryan MBA. If you’re interest in a successful career in business, don’t stop at a bachelor’s degree. The quantitative and qualitative skills acquired through an MBA really take you to a higher level of understanding and broaden your career possibilities. My professors in the Bryan MBA taught me to be an innovative thinker and being able to incorporate creativity into an organization is essential to being successful in business.”
