Student Success StoriesEnache Enache: Completes Rewarding Summer with Volvo Parts North AmericaAfter completing the first year of the day MBA program in May, Enache Enache spent the next ten weeks with Volvo Parts North America (VPNA) where he was a summer intern. Enache, an international student from Romania, learned about the opening through the Bryan School’s Graduate Career Services. The HR Department at Volvo had contacted Career Services in search of a student to fill an internship position and Enache was a perfect match with the qualifications for the position. Volvo immediately contacted him and scheduled an interview for the next day. Fifteen minutes after completing the interview, they called Enache to offer him the position. Over the course of the summer, Enache concentrated on two major projects. First, he managed intra-corporate processes between the Volvo plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania and the Volvo Headquarters in Greensboro. Second, Enache monitored the flow of containers coming from different European and Asian suppliers. Once he became familiar with the process, he made several suggestions that were implemented to improve the supply chain. In addition to these two activities, Enache was responsible for daily tasks such as maintaining the parts database and preparing and analyzing reports. “It was a great work environment and everyone was very open and welcoming. The internship gave me the opportunity to observe the daily operations of a huge global company and I was assigned some challenging projects that allowed me to gain valuable and practical experience in international logistics and supply chain management. It all started with Graduate Career Services and I am very grateful to the career counselors for this wonderful experience!” -August 2006 |
