Through the heartfelt generosity of Microsoft Vice President Robert McDowell and his wife, Lissa Shelley McDowell, a 1968 graduate, UNCG has received a gift of $3.85 million. The gift will help establish UNCG as one of the leaders in global information technology as well as support the university’s commitment to excellence in art, communications, student development and teaching.
The McDowell Research Center in Global IT Management will be the nation’s first center to investigate the international applications of information technology. The center will prepare the next generation of students for the challenges faced by companies as they expand globally and will be a world-class facility for scholars. The center will be directed by Prashant Palvia, Joe Rosenthal Excellence Professor of Information Systems.
