Steve Lucas received his degrees at The Ohio State University. He has been a member of the UNCG faculty since 1971. Steve's instructional area is marketing. He offers an elective course in marketing -- an intro course in retailing (MKT 326) focused on retail strategy. In addition, he has offered three experiential courses involving the workplace - BUS 220, Field Experience in Business; BUS 450, Directed Business Practice; and MBA 695A, Special Topics: MBA Case Competition.
He has made presentations in international settings that include Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The papers presented were focused on marketing aspects of small business. Greece is in his future plans for international conference participation.
Steve has served as an adviser to small business aspirants at the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship (a small business incubator) and as a faculty liaison for the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center. He is also a member of the local area Small Business Consortium (an organization that serves Greensboro, North Carolina and the Piedmont Triad area of the state). He is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Small Business Strategy.
Steve has participated in the Tecnológico de Monterrey/Walt Disney World/UNCG international program. As part of his efforts, he has visited many campuses of the Tecnológico de Monterrey system where he has made presentations. He is a coauthor of several papers addressing internships and UNCG aspects of this innovative program whereby students from Mexico study for one year in the United States; included in this program of study is an internship at Walt Disney World.
In addition to his earned, traditional doctorate from OSU, Steve was awarded the Walt Disney World "Ducktorate" by the WDW Educators Forum. (He posed with Mickey for the presentation of the award. That was an experience he will not soon forget.)
