Dr. Prashant Palvia is Joe Rosenthal Excellence Professor, Director of the McDowell Research Center for Global IT Management, and Ph.D. Program Director in the Information Systems & Operations Management Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).  He served as Department Head from 2000 to 2004. Prior to twenty three years in academics, he had nine years of industry experience. He received his Ph.D., MBA and MS from the University of Minnesota and BS from the University of Delhi, India. Prof. Palvia received UNCG’s senior research excellence award in 2005.  He is a leading authority in the field of Global Information Technology Management (GITM) and has chaired the annual GITMA world conferences, the next one being in Naples, Italy in June 2007.

Professor Palvia is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Information Technology Management (JGITM), and is on the editorial board of several journals. His research interests include global information technology, electronic commerce, media choice theory, trust in exchange relationships and information resource management. He has published 77 journal articles including in journal such as MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Communications of the ACM, Communications of the AIS, Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, and ACM Transactions on Database Systems, and 136 articles in conference proceedings. He has co-edited three books on Global Information Technology, the latest in 2002 and is in the process of updating the book for Spring 2007 publication.
