Dr. Prashant Palvia

.... Building Bridges for Global Information Technology.

 

Dr. Prashant Palvia is Joe Rosenthal Excellence Professor and Ph.D. Program Director in the Information Systems & Operations Management Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He served as Department Head from 2000 to 2004. Prior to twenty two years in academics, he had nine years of industry experience. He received his Ph.D., MBA and MS from the University of Minnesota and BS from the University of Delhi, India. Prof. Palvia received UNCG's senior research excellence award in 2005. He is a leading authority in the field of Global Information Technology Management (GITM) and has chaired seven GITMA world conferences in Memphis (2000), Dallas (2001), New York (2002), Calgary (2003), San Diego (2004), Anchorage (2005), and Orlando (2006).

Professor Palvia is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Information Technology Management (JGITM) , and is on editorial board of several journals. His research interests include global information technology, electronic commerce, media choice theory, trust in exchange relationships and information resource management. He has published 71 articles in journals, such as: MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Communications of the ACM, Communications of the AIS, Information & Management, Decision Support Systems , and ACM Transactions on Database Systems , and 125 articles in conference proceedings. He has co-edited three books on Global Information Technology, the latest being "Global Information Technology and Electronic Commerce", published by Ivy League Publishing, 2002.
