Outstanding Graduates, Employees Honored by Bryan School

The Bryan School of Business and Economics at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro honored more than two dozen graduating students for academic excellence, service and leadership at an awards ceremony in May. All were May 2010 graduates unless noted. The following honors were awarded:

Joseph M. Bryan Achievement and Leadership Award The Joseph M. Bryan Achievement and Leadership Award recognizes graduating students for academic scholarship and leadership in the Bryan School, the university and the community. The recipients were:

  • Skylar J. Cherniack, Charlotte
  • Kissy N. Gomes, Newfield, Antigua and Barbuda
  • Jacqueline D. Reed, Highlands

Dean's Service Award The Dean's Service Award recognizes graduating students whoi have provided exemplary service to the Bryan School, the university and the community. The recipients were:

  • Natalie Summers Bondy and Alison Michelle Weeks, Charlotte
  • Ameshia Al-Esther Cooper and Aneshia Allister Cooper, Durham
  • Teena Xiong, Morganton

Outstanding Student This award recognizes graduating students who have enriched the Bryan School's learning environment through their professional and service activities and their support of other students.

The graduate student recipients were:

  • John Daniel Freeze, Mooresville
  • Sara Nicole Landreth, Winston-Salem
  • Lindsay Jilyne Hackett and George Clayton Upper III, Greensboro

The undergraduate student recipients were:

  • Anna Marie Church, Ryan Christopher Danford and Kathryn Curtis Thiede, Greensboro
  • Chelsea A. Godbey, Charlotte
  • Laura Ashley Olenderski, Lewes, Del.
  • Ashlyne Kelly Reid, Granite Quarry

The Wall Street Journal Achievement Award The Wall Street Journal Achievement Award is presented to the student judged most outstanding in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The honoree was:

  • Jacqueline D. Reed, Highlands

Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key The International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi recognizes the undergraduate graduate with the highest GPA for four years of study in the Bryan School. The honorees were:

  • Erin Grey Setzer, an August 2009 graduate from Greensboro
  • Gracie E. Lambert, a December 2009 graduate from Greensboro

Academic Excellence Medals Academic Excellence Medals are awarded to undergraduate students who are in the top 5 percent of their graduating class and have a 3.9 GPA in their business coursework. Graduate students honorees must maintain a 3.9 cumulative GPA.

The graduate student recipients were:

  • Brittany Michelle Murray, Belews Creek
  • Donald R. Heath, Jr. and George Clayton Upper III, Greensboro
  • Patrick R. Willis, Bakersville
  • Sara Nicole Landreth, Winston-Salem

The undergraduate student recipients were:

  • David Alexander Cornejo, Reidsville
  • Sean Alexander Simpson, Jamestown
  • William James Parish, Valerie Renee Lewis and Rebecca E. Rymer, Greensboro
  • Laura Ashley Olenderski, Lewes, Del.

The Bryan School also honored faculty and staff with excellence awards. The winners of the 2010 Bryan School Teaching Excellence Awards were:

  • Dr. Nicholas Williamson for tenured faculty and Ms. Eloise Hassell for non-tenured faculty.
  • Ms. Emily Bebber was honored with the Bryan School Staff Excellence Award.

The Bryan School is the largest of UNCG's seven professional schools with 400 graduate students and 2,200 undergraduates. It is accredited by AACSB International and is among the top 10 percent of business schools nationwide that have earned accreditation at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both business and accounting.
