Yes. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required to take classes in the Bryan School. This includes courses with the prefix of ACC, BUS, ECO, ENT, FIN, ISM, MGT, MKT, SCM. Students will be administratively dropped from these classes if their GPA is below 2.0.
All pre-Bryan majors are advised by one of the professional advisors in the Undergraduate Student Services Office. Once students are formally admitted to their major they will be advised by a faculty member. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you will receive the same advisor each semester, but will make every effort to do so. Students majoring in International Business Studies are advised by Heidi Fischer (h_fische@uncg.edu ).
Students are required to complete the first intermediate-level proficiency in foreign language, i.e., through the 203 level. Six hours of a foreign language may be used towards the General Education marker requirement of 12 hours of Global (GL) or Global/Nonwestern (GN) courses.
International Business Studies majors are required to complete the intermediate-level proficiency in foreign language, i.e., through the 204 level and should work closely with their advisor in selecting the appropriate sequence. International Business Studies majors must also complete six semester hours in a foreign language beyond the intermediate level in literature, 300-level conversation, or intensive language study in a foreign country.
Non-native speakers of the English language are exempted from this requirement.
All prerequisite courses and requirements MUST be completed before enrolling in a Bryan School course. See the Undergraduate Bulletin for specific course prerequisites. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of all course prerequisites. Students enrolled in any course without the appropriate prerequisite(s) will be administratively dropped.
All students, regardless of major, must have a minimum cumulative UNCG GPA of 2.0 to enroll in any Bryan School course with the exception of BUS 105A.
An advising code is required to make any adjustments (add or drop) to your schedule at any time during the semester. Each semester you are assigned a new individual code. You must meet with an advisor to receive your advising code. View your advisor through UNCGenie or call Undergraduate Student Services at (336) 334-5928.
The advising code for summer registration is always 555555 for all students.
Full-time students may audit courses with the written approval of an advisor and the instructor. Auditors must register officially for the class. Attendance, preparation and participation in classroom discussion and laboratory exercises shall be at the discretion of the instructor. Auditors are not required to take examinations or tests and receive no credit for the course. Registration may not be changed from audit to credit or from credit to audit after the one-week add period ends. The faculty of the Bryan School has stipulated that auditing of upper level courses (300 and above) within the Bryan school will not typically be permitted. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the head of the department in which the course is taught.
Class level is determined by credit hours completed, not including currently enrolled courses. For registration purposes, student classification is broken into level 1 and level 2 for each class:
SN = 90 or more hours
JR1 = 75-89.9 hours
JR2 = 60-74.9 hours
SO1 = 45-59.9 hours
SO2 = 30-44.9 hours
FR1 = 15-29.9 hours
FR2 = 0-14.9 hours
The successful completion of MAT 120 or MAT 191 is required for admission to any Bryan School major.
Department of Mathematics & Statistics
MAT 120 - Calculus for Business and Social Sciences is the recommended calculus course for all Bryan School majors. The prerequisite for MAT 120 is a grade of "C" or better in MAT 115 - College Algebra or an adequate score on the Math Placement Exam. Contact the Department of Mathematics & Statistics for information on the Math Placement Test. The resulting math sequence for most Bryan School students is MAT 115 and MAT 120.
MAT 191-Calculus I will satisfy the Bryan School math requirement but should only be taken by students who intend to pursue higher level math courses. The prerequisite for MAT 191 is MAT 151 and may require MAT 150.
Students are required to meet with their assigned advisors before each early registration period.
Advising for spring registration occurs in October and November while advising for summer and fall registration occurs in March and April. An email is sent by the Bryan School directing students to sign up for an advising session in advance of the advising period. At these sessions, students should expect to discuss current coursework, career and future plans and detailed course options for the following semester.
All pre-admitted students will meet in a group setting with the advising staff in Undergraduate Student Services. Students admitted to their major are assigned to a faculty advisor in their major. Admitted students meet individually with their faculty advisor.
All pre-registration advising appointments are scheduled online through a web-based appointment scheduling system. Once students have been notified by email to sign up for an advising appointment, the appointment scheduling link will be located at http://www.uncg.edu/bae .

The Greater Greensboro Consortium (GGC) is designed to expand the course options available to degree-seeking students who are currently enrolled in one of the eight colleges and universities in the surrounding area. Its primary purpose is to assist a student in registering for a course(s) elsewhere that is unavailable in a given semester on the student's home campus. UNCG students who wish to enroll in courses at one or more of the Consortium schools may obtain the necessary forms from the University Registrar's Office or the Graduate School Office.

Course Schedule information for most of the participating schools is available online and a brochure describing Consortium registration procedures is available in the University Registrar's Office.
The dropping of a course should be initiated on the host campus. Regulations of the host campus relative to withdrawal and grades apply. Students must also notify the registrar on their home campus of any courses dropped.
Students from other Consortium institutions who wish to take courses at UNCG may present the approved forms at the University Registrar's Office. For more details see the University Registrar's website, http://www.uncg.edu/reg/Reg/current/Consortium.html .
Consortium students wishing to enroll in courses in the Bryan School of Business and Economics must meet the entrance requirements required of UNCG students. Transcripts from the home institution will be required by the Bryan School before enrollment will be approved.
The Bryan School will not approve any business course to be taken via the Greater Greensboro Consortium.

All requirements for both majors must be completed. If the primary major is in the Bryan School and the secondary major is in another college or school at UNCG, the student only has to meet the General Education (GEC) requirements for the primary major.
Remember: Pursuing two majors at the same time does not compensate for a low GPA or the lack of real resume builders. Generally speaking, it is better to supplement your first major with involvement in student organizations, community service, leadership development programs, etc. Talk to your advisor for other ideas.
