Admission to Major

To be formally admitted to a B.S. major in the Bryan School , a student must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and the following courses must be completed:

ACC 201 - Financial Accounting

ACC 202 - Managerial Accounting

CST 105 - Introduction to Communication Studies

ECO 201 - Microeconomics

ECO 202 - Macroeconomics

ECO 250 - Econ & Business Statistics I

ENG 102 - English Composition II

ISM 110 - Business Computing I

ISM 280 - Business Processes & Info Tech

MAT 120 - Business Calculus (or MAT 191)


Additional Departmental Requirements for Admission:

Accounting:
"C" or better in ACC 218, 202, ECO 201, ISM 280

Accounting and Information Systems
"C" or better in ACC 218, 202, ECO 201, ISM 110, & ISM 280. Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA.

Business Administration
None.

Economics
The cumulative GPA of ECO 201, 202, 250 must be at least 2.0.

Finance
"C" or better in ACC 218 & ACC 202.

International Business Studies
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Information Systems and Operation Management
"C" or better in ISM 110 & ISM 280.

Note: There is a difference between a C- and a C.


Application Process:

You should apply for admission to your major the semester you are completing the pre-admission courses. Applications are available in the Office of Undergraduate Student Services, 232 Bryan Building. If you are completing the pre-admission courses in the current semester, you may register for restricted courses (pending final approval of admission to the major) for next semester providing that your cumulative UNCG GPA is at least a 2.0, or whatever is required for your intended major. If you do not have the required 2.0 GPA, you will not be able to take any Bryan School courses.

Timelines to consider for admission to major:
  • If you are completing the pre-admission courses in the fall, please apply for admission in September.
  • If you are completing the pre-admission courses in the spring, please apply for admission in February.
  • If you are completing the pre-admission courses in the summer, you must apply for admission in February of the spring semester.
  • If you do not apply for admission to your major during the proper timeframe, you will not be permitted to pre-register for the restricted courses.
