Bryan Scholars

UNCG's Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics offers a number of competitive, merit-based scholarships to outstanding students who wish to pursue one of the majors the school offers.

Merit Awards Program

The Bryan School offers scholarships to entering freshmen through the University's Merit Awards Program. Two of these scholarships are described below.

  • Kathleen P. and Joseph M. Bryan Scholarships. The School awards approximately six Bryan Scholarships per year that provide the recipient with $6,000 per year for four years. These scholarships also include a stipend of up to $2,500 to support the student's study abroad.
  • Bank of America Scholarships. The School awards approximately two of these scholarships per year that provide the recipient with $6,000 per year for four years. Bank of America arranges a paid six-week internship after the junior year. Funds are also available to provide a stipend for study abroad.
  • Students who apply through the Merit Awards Program are also automatically considered for the University's Katharine Smith Reynolds Scholarships and other merit scholarships. Recipients of the Reynolds Scholarships receive $6,000 per year for four years plus two $1,250 stipends for community service involvement and an internship. They also receive a $2,500 stipend for study abroad. The University awards approximately 10 Reynolds Scholarships each year.

To apply for these scholarships, students should complete the Merit Scholarship Application by Friday, January 4, 2008. The University and the Bryan School will review the applications and select applicants to invite to campus during February 2006 for competitive interviews.

Successful applicants normally will have a minimum SAT score of 1200 (or ACT score of 27), a minimum high school GPA of 3.5, demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, and an interest in studying abroad at least one semester.

Other Bryan School Scholarships

In addition to the Merit Awards Program scholarships discussed above, the Bryan School offers a limited number of merit and need-based scholarships each year, ranging in value from $300 to $3500. Students (new and continuing) who have high-quality academic records, meet specific award requirements such as major field of study, and/or have financial need may apply for Bryan School Scholarship support. These awards may or may not be renewable. You may apply for these scholarships by completing the Bryan School of Business and Economics Scholarship Application and returning it to the Dean's Office, 401 Bryan Building, or mail it to the Dean's Office, Bryan School , P.O. Box 26165 , UNCG, Greensboro , NC 27402-6165 .
