To the Campus Community,
Over the years, UNCG has continually improved administrative processes that enable support units to efficiently serve a rapidly growing student body, its faculty and staff, and the state's citizens. The PACE initiative, a formalized process initiated by UNC President Bowles, has required us to look even deeper at our processes and for other opportunities to reduce or avoid new costs.
President Bowles has committed to be a vocal champion on behalf of the campuses of the University System. As he makes the case for resources, however, he must also assure the state's legislature and taxpayers that the significant resources already dedicated to the University are utilized as efficiently and effectively as possible.
While we have already submitted t here reports to President Bowles of our PACE initiatives, more recent economic conditions require us to continue to develop new ways to meet our mission in an era of possibly unprecedented permanent budget reductions.
I encourage the campus community to share ideas for cost savings and cost avoidance through the use of this web site. Cost savings must continue to be a way of doing business at UNCG.
Sincerely,
Linda P. Brady
