The main Biotechnology Core Facility is located in room 323 Eberhart Builidng on the UNCG campus. The facility is used as a teaching center (e.g., Introduction to Biotechnology BIO 594-- class shown) and research resource. Students receive training in current biotechnology procedures, good laboratory procedures (GLP) and equipment use and care.
This facility contains several essential pieces of biotech equipment such as a phosphoimager, oligonucleotide synthesizer, and thermocyclers. The purchase of these was facilitated by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the University. This facility represents a key link in training undergraduate and graduate students in biotechnology, a growing and vibrant industry in North Carolina.
