Reynaldo Diaz

Reynaldo Diaz was born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua. He had a science-track high school education which he continued when he came to Greensboro in 2002 to attend Guilford College. Reynaldo graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2006. Since then, he has worked as a water filter consultant, ESL math tutor, medical interpreter and an associate chemist. As a filter consultant, Reynaldo travelled throughout East Africa and Central America assisting in the installation of ceramic-water-filter factories. While in the United States, Reynaldo worked as a math-tutor for English as a Second Language students in Guilford County Schools. In 2011, Diaz joined the M.S. program in the Chemistry department at UNCG. For fun, Reynaldo is a competitive chess player and enjoys travelling around the world.

Research Interests

Reynaldo is currently developing a toxicology assay using Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry. He aims to develop a high through-put toxicity assay to screen potential toxins with a specific focus on nanoparticles
