Molly Hagen

Molly Chandler Hagen, born and raised in Raleigh, NC, is a masters' student in Geography at UNCG.  Chandler received her B.A. in Geography from UNCG with concentrations in Environmental Science and Geographic Information Systems.  She worked, while in school, as a Geography tutor and a supplemental instruction leader for an Introduction to Conservation Biology course.  During her internship at the Office for Parking Operations and Campus Access Management she promoted sustainable transportation and assisted in the development of Spartan Cycle Share, UNCG's bike sharing program.  Her Honors' Thesis was titled "Growing Green Economy: Measuring Green Economy in Relation to Richard Florida's Creative Class."  She worked with Geography faculty and the UNCG Division of Continual Learning to develop an online course in urban geography.

Research Interests

Chandler's research seeks to identify and measure human relationships with the environment. Factors of interest include: educational efforts, changes in legislation, and the incorporation of non-monetary values into economic systems.  In summer 2012, she worked at the World Wildlife Headquarters in Washington, D.C., mapping health and socioeconomic variables in relation to ecosystem services in Tanzania and Mozambique.
