About![]() |
James Patrick Healy was born in Yadkinville, NC, the oldest of four children. As a child, he liked science and soccer. One particular hobby was catching snakes in the woods. He received his B.S. in Chemistry with a math minor from Winston-Salem State University. He has worked in a research lab at the beautiful University of California- Santa Cruz, studying solid state chemistry, and at Wake Forest University in Cancer Biology. In 2008 he enrolled in the medicinal biochemistry doctoral program at UNCG. In his free time, Patrick still plays soccer both in intramurals and in the local recreational leagues. He also is a avid reader and watcher of sci-fi television. |
Research InterestsPatrick's research interests are in human nuclear receptors and discovering new methodologies for studying them. The focus of his research is in adapting modern calorimetric instrumentation to use in studying the interactions of nuclear receptors with their natural ligands. If successful, these methods will allow the acquisition of never-before obtained thermodynamic data for nuclear receptors from a single experiment, data essential for drug development. |
