Communication Across the Curriculum
Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) is UNCG's signature program of cross-departmental academic excellence, student development, and excellence in teaching. Our goals are to improve the communication skills of our students and also to improve teaching and learning, though the application of writing and speaking strategies in the classroom and through support for student and faculty communication projects through the Writing Center and Speaking Center.
Speaking and Writing Across the Curriculum
The General Education Curriculum requires that all UNCG students take two writing-intensive courses and two speaking-intensive courses, one of each being in the student's major. The College of Arts and Sciences requires an additional two writing-intensive courses. (See the Undergraduate Bulletin for additional details)
The Speaking Across the Curriculum (SAC) program and the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program oversee the development, review, and approval of proposals from the faculty for their courses to carry the Speaking Intensive (SI) and Writing Intensive (WI) markers.
CAC will accept proposals for submission to the WI and SI committees during these windows:
Effective May 1, 2014, all WI and SI proposals must be submitted through the General Education Council (firstname.lastname@example.org). The WI and SI Request Form is available on the Council's website (http://gened.uncg.edu). Please also note the deadlines for submission of requests has changed. The deadlines can be found under the Meetings tab on the Council's website
