Where to Park on Campus?

Whether you are coming to campus for a class, a tour, or a community event, there are plenty of transportation and parking options available.

At UNC Greensboro’s Parking Operations and Campus Access Management (POCAM), we seek to provide you with a variety of quality parking and transportation options that are convenient and reliable for your campus experience.

There are three pay-by-hour parking decks and multiple surface lots with metered parking located throughout our campus. You can also park and hop on a Spartan Chariot to help get you to where you need to be quick.

The pay-by-hour parking decks have both permit parking (limited availability) and pay-by-hour visitor parking. During high volume parking periods, the pay-by-hour parking may be temporarily suspended. In our parking decks, the cost is $2 for the first hour, $1 for each additional hour for a $10 maximum per day per entry fee. If you exit the deck in under 30 minutes, then there is no charge for that time.

  • Walker Parking Deck is located along Stirling St. and is near the Elliott University Center as well as Jackson Library and the Bryan School of Business and Economics.
  • Oakland Parking Deck is located along Forest St. and is near the Moore Humanities and Research Administration building as well as the School of Education building.
  • McIver Parking Deck is located along McIver St. and is near the Sullivan Science Building as well as the School of Music.

Throughout campus, there are several parking lots, totaling more than 8,000 parking spaces, available for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to use. Metered spaces are located throughout campus for a cost of 25 cents per 15 minute intervals and may be paid via the ParkMobile app. Some parking lot locations are restricted for a variety of permit holders such as residents, commuters, faculty, and staff.

Monday-Friday complimentary parking is available in the following areas (not including meters or reserves) during designated times:

  • Lot 1A (Oakland Ave./S. Josephine Boyd St. – across the street from the Water Tower) 5 p.m.- 7 a.m.
  • Lot 1B (1605 Spring Garden St.) 5 p.m. – 7 a.m.

Spartan Chariots are free and transport students around campus.

To help you travel around campus with ease, the University provides free shuttle services via the Spartan Chariots. A fleet of Spartan Chariots travel throughout campus on three different routes.

As a student or staff/faculty, you may also travel on the Greensboro Transportation Agency’s (GTA) buses to and from downtown Greensboro and the greater community. GTA’s Higher Education Access Transit (HEAT) buses transport riders between the area colleges and universities, as well as to shopping centers and other points of interest throughout Greensboro. Students and staff/faculty can ride both GTA and HEAT buses fare-free with their SpartanCard; simply swipe it at the fare box when boarding the bus.

The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) serves UNCG’s campus with two different routes. Students receive a 50% discount off PART fares, while staff/faculty receive a 30% discount if registered through PART’s XPass Program.
