The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is one of the sixteen campuses of The University of North Carolina, the birthplace of public higher education in America. The UNC Board of Governors has legal oversight, and the system is administered by the UNC President. Each campus is headed by its own chancellor and Board of Trustees.

Chancellor Patricia A. Sullivan has headed UNCG since 1995. During her stellar tenure the University has enjoyed remarkable increases in its academic standing, growth in its degree programs, and a building program for state-of-the-art facilities.
