National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations take new members at a range of times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. Each NPHC organization has their own set of requirements for membership and each conducts Membership Intake on a schedule set by the chapter itself. Some of the organizations will conduct intake each semester, others might conduct intake once a year. When organizations conduct Membership Intake they often host an informational meeting in which the criteria for membership are explained.
NPHC hosts "Meet the Greeks" each fall semester, which is a general informational program about all of its organizations. This year, "Meet the Greeks" is on October 5, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the newest governing council in UNCG's Greek community. MGC exists to provide support, education, and programming for non-traditional, culturally-based Greek organizations. These organizations conduct their Membership Intake similar to the process used by NPHC organizations.
InterFraternity Council (IFC) chapters conduct recruitment each semester, with a formal Rush Week in the fall. Potential members to IFC fraternities must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA (for incoming first year men) or a 2.8 college GPA.
Rush Week for fall 2011 will begin September 26, 2011 and conclude on October 1, 2011. Potential members will visit each IFC chapter at least once and then choose which chapters fit their interests for the remainder of the week. Please contact the IFC Vice President for Recruitment, Taylor Witty for more information.
College Panhellenic Council (CPH) conducts a formal recruitment process for each of its member sororities each fall. Some CPH sororities may choose to conduct informal recruitment on their own, either later in the fall, during the spring semester, both fall and spring, or not at all.
Formal Recruitment for fall 2011 begins September 7, 2011 and concludes on September 10, 2011. Please contact the CPH Vice President for Recruitment, Elyse Raines.
