Students in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a foreign language. The typical sequence of UNCG courses for foreign language is 101, 102, 203, and 204. The College considers successful completion of the 204 course a demonstration of proficiency. Students may place out of one or more courses through a placement test.
|UNCG offers the following ten language options that meet the foreign language requirement:|
|American Sign Language||Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures|
|Greek||Department of Classical Studies|
"I have a documented learning disablity and a demonstrable long standing difficulty learning a foreign language."
"I have exceptional circumstances and the current Modified Foreign Language Program cannot provide appropriate accommodations."
What are my options?
"English is my second language and/or I am already proficient in a foreign language. Do I need to complete the foreign language requirement?"
Please email CASA Program Manager, Sarah Hamrick, at firstname.lastname@example.org for specific instructions on the foreign language proficiency testing process.
