How do I register for classes?

The first step in registering for classes is meeting with your advisor.

Once you’ve met with your advisor, you’ll be eligible to register when your Registration Window opens.

In the meantime, you can be choosing classes and watching how many seats are still available by using the Schedule of Classes.

Need assistance deciphering the Schedule of Classes? Check out these instructions!

You register for courses using your UNCGenie account. Select Student & Financial Aid, Registration, Add/Drop Classes. You will then be prompted to enter your Advising Code. Need more help?

How can I register for a course that is closed or restricted?
To add any class that is closed or restricted, you must obtain special permission from the department or instructor. Forms of special permission include special departmental stamps and the instructor’s written signature on an official add/drop form (available from the University Registrar’s Office, CASA, and departmental offices). A process that allows the instructor to override his or her own courses online is available, after which you may go to the Web and register. If your instructor does not opt to use this method, you may have your add/drop form processed in the University Registrar’s Office, 180 Mossman.
