1997 Workshops & Programs:
  • Stephen Halpert Juror Presentation Director of theatre will discuss running and operating an independent art theatre for the love of film.

  • Yvonne Andersen's Presentation Independent animator, director of Yellow Ball Workshop and professor at Rhode Island School of Design presents work in film.

  • Yvonne Andersen's Workshop The Yellow Ball Workshop Yvonne Andersen brings the world of animation in to the hands of children. A group of students will learn how to create animation by painting on film. Andersen will also pass on this technique to local art teachers so they may bring this art form to the class room.

  • David Gatten's Presentation Experimental filmmaker presents his work in film, employing handprocessing techniques.

  • David Gatten's Workshop Do-It-Yourself Imagemaking: The Art and Craft of the Hand-Made FilmDavid Gatten leads a seminar/workshop on the techniques and processes of the hand-made film and discusses the ideas, theories, and motivations behind their use. Participants will view films which demonstrate the use of hand-crafting techniques as well as receive hands-on instruction in a number of these processes.

  • Kodak presentation Jim Hodges talks about the wonderful filmstocks of Kodak.

  • Israeli and Palastinian Film A screening of an Israeli and Palastinian film - "All Hell Broke Loose"

  • South Carolina Arts Commission Rick Dalton tells us how to get grants and cheap equipment!

  • SAA Art Show We would also like to thank SAA (Student Art Aliance of UNCG) for the amazing show of artwork in the lobby of the 1997 festival.
