MC/FU is a group of students interested in making, discussing, and watching films. To say the least we like film. We try to create an open venue to help students get involved in current and upcoming film projects as well as provide assistance, guidance
and moral support to allow them to create their own. We have been known to: have workshops, critique scripts, look at portfolios and write scripts together (kinky eh?).
The Film Union welcomes all students interested in filmmaking and is not limited to Broadcasting / Cinema majors. And best of all, there are no membership dues (yes, free movies!). Just stop by the Carmichael Building on W
alker Street on just about any Monday night at 7:00 and look for the funny people with purple hats (no, not really - they're orange).
So what are we doing these days? Do we have any special guests volunteering their time to help forward our experience in the film realm? And perhaps the most frequent inquiry - who are we really? We've created this site to help answer all your pressing
questions about UNCG's Masqueraders Cinematheque / Film Union.

This year we are having a series of workshops to help the young rookies figure out how all this stuff works and to introduce anyone interested to the fundamentals of film and video production. Special guests will discuss cameras, lighting, business and
other necessities. Workshops will be held at the regular time of the club meeting. Here's sample of some previous workshops (information on this year's workshops is forthcoming):
The Bells & Whistles Camera Workshop
Monday 29 October 7-9 pm Carmichael 05 (downstairs)
The Industrious Matt Barr shows us the wonder and joy of using a
video camera.
The "I survived L.A." Workshop
Monday 6 October 7-9 pm Carmichael 05 (downstairs)
Frank Donaldson is giving a practical workshop on working in LA. He
will be covering geography, things one needs (besides talent), and how to do
the ins and outs of the business.
The Lighting for Dummies Workshop
Monday 27 October 7-9 pm Carmichael Studio
Richard Brett gives a practical lighting workshop, covering
the running of the board to the aesthetics of lighting. Learn about a key, a
fill, and why they work in whatever case you are using them. Build drama.
Heighten fantasy. Better living through lighting.

Also, we are proud to be funded members of the Student Government Association (SGA).
The Film Union is responsible for supporting the Carolina Film and Video Festival, a large international film festival now in its ninth year held every year at UNCG.
Don't worry, we don't really bite....

We enjoy co-sponsoring events with other student clubs. In the past we have ordered and projected films for the Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Student Association (GLBSA). If your club is interested i
n co-sponsoring an event or have questions about how to get films for an event or just want to find out how cool we really are - please write to our MC / FU email at mcfu@uncg.edu.
And always feel free to stop by the Carmichael Building to see in person what we're all about. Tom Edwards, MC / FU President, is in the Film Union office (151-A Carmichael) Tuesday
12:15 - 12:45 pm and Thursday 12:15 - 2:00 pm or by appointment.
