Give a brief bio of yourself, including your education and/or professional background.
I am from Roanoke Rapids, a small town in northeastern North Carolina. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Florida State University. After graduating from college I traveled as a consultant across the country providing leadership training to collegiate women. In addition, I worked for the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina planning state-wide youth events. I started the counseling program at UNCG in Fall 2007. I am in the couple and family track and currently completing my second year.

What is the one word you would use to describe yourself?
Faithful.

Why did you choose UNCG as the place to complete your graduate studies?
I choose to complete my graduate studies at UNCG due to the counseling department’s commitment to professionalization and dedication to excellence. In addition, The Nicholas Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic was very impressive, and during my site visit I felt welcomed by the faculty and students.

Give some specific examples of how CED has changed and/or influenced your life.
The educational experience provided at UNCG has been both challenging and enriching. I have made great friendships in my cohort and strong connections with doctoral students and faculty members. The opportunities available have stretched me to deepen my level of self-awareness and have nurtured my counseling skills and abilities.

What are your career plans?
I am excited about working with couples and families! As my second semester of internship comes to an end I am finding that I really enjoy couples counseling, which is something I hope to pursue further in my practice. Long-term career plans possibly include earning my Ph.D. in counselor education and focusing my work on teaching and supervision.

Favorite Food?
Sushi!

Favorite Movie?
Going to the movies is one of my favorite things. One recent movie I loved is The Secret Life of Bees. Older favorites include Fried Green Tomatoes and Big Fish.

Favorite Music?
I love all types of music. In my CD player right now is Liz Wright, a jazz and R&B musician. I also really like country music.
